Overview

A circular walk starting from Shawford Station. The 09.08 train from Fratton will get you to Shawford (via Eastleigh) at 10.19. There will be a coffee stop and a lunch stop, please bring refreshments. There is no requirement to book on this walk, just turn up.

The route of the walk crosses Compton Down, to Yew Hill and along Whiteshute Ridge with lovely views towards Winchester. We will reach the Water Meadows at St Cross, then skirt St Catherine's Hill, returning to Shawford via Hockley Farm.

The walk start is timed to allow walkers to use public transport. The old station booking office has been converted into an excellent cafe with homemade cakes! Free parking near the station.
