A relaxed 8 mile linear walk by wooded pathways and the margin of a few fields.
Typical Wealden landscape - and muddy in places during wet spells.
Route: from Cowden north through Bilton's Gill and Hoath Corner to Chiddingstone; then along the Eden Valley Path to Hever, passing Hever Castle and maybe, train times permitting, a drink at the King Henry VIII pub in Hever village before the return journey.
Lunch Stop: Picnic lunch in Chiddingstone with possible quick refreshments at NT Tea Shop if time permits - but please bring food with you as this is Easter Saturday and likely to be very busy. Toilets may be available.
About 4 hours walking.
Meet at Cowden Station at 10.55 (no toilets).
Finish at Hever Station (hourly service).
Travel: London Bridge 10.07/East Croydon 10.22 - direct Uckfield train - arr Cowden at 10.53. Or - Victoria 09.54/Clapham Junction 10.01 - Ore train - changing at East Croydon to 10.22 - Uckfield train - arr Cowden 10.53.
Ticket/Fare: Off-Peak Day Return to Cowden £16.20/Railcard £10.65/SRC+FP £6.90.
