Walkers must book in advance with the walk leader
A pleasant walk in familiar hills but approached from a different direction. Excellent views, weather permitting, of the Clyde Estuary, Loch Lomond and Campsie Fells.
Starting at Dumbarton East Station and then crossing Stirling road we follow the line of Hunters Burn to climb Dumbowie Hill then joining a track to Overtoun House. Ascend Lang Craigs, steep in places on a rocky path, to a path along the top of Craigs. Reaching Black Linn Reservoir we cross wet open moorland to Doughnot Hill. Return to the start by a reasonable, worn path to foot of the Craigs and then on paths, crossing Overtoun Burn, past Barr Wood and then passing the waterworks following Gruggies Burn.
Local Grade: B
Terrain: Steep & rough underfoot from time to time to achieve the path along the cliffs of the Craigs and again at Doughnot Hill. Crossing a burn may result in wet feet.
Advised, poles, and gaiters are worn as muddy periodically.
Max height: 374 m
