We are the Balerno Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.

An enjoyable day out especially in good weather going through varied landscapes- farmland, loch side and woodland - with good views of the surrounding hills and places of interest.
The walk will go round Portmore Loch, pass Portmore House and cross to the other side of the main road where it will join the "Old Post Road", then turn off past Barony Castle and the Polish Map of Scotland to return to the start.
On made (tarmac or stone) farm roads and tracks. One or two muddy bits.
Note on the two different times given below: the later Start time (9:50) is when the walk begins once walkers have travelled to the walk start point; and the earlier Meeting time (9:00) is for those meeting in the Pentland View car park, Currie, to car share to the walk start.

The main walk is nearly 10 mls. A shorter version of less than 5mls is an option with a wait until the rest of the walkers return.

Pentland View Car Park, Currie - off Lanark Road West. Lothian Bus 44 (Balerno - Wallyford) stops beside the car park. Meet at 8:50 to car share; departing at 9:00
Turn off main A703 road at Scots Pine café signpost and park on minor road beside café. Please do not park in the small café car park. Borders Bus X62 (Edinburgh - Peebles - Galashiels) serves the start. Walk start time is 9:50 - after those car sharing from Currie arrive. (Leaving time for those car sharing from Currie is 8:50 for 9:00)
