Meet on the (free) car park at Exbury Gardens for a walk of approx. 7 miles through varied landscape of fields and woodland leading to the shoreline at Lepe Country Park, where we will pause for refreshments at The Lookout and shake hands with the Isle of Wight around 3km across the Solent, before returning along the coast path (tides allowing).
When is the best time to visit Exbury to see the rhododendrons and azaleas? Their collection of rhododendrons and azaleas is spectacular in late April and throughout May. Flowering does extend into June with late-flowering rhododendrons and deciduous azaleas taking the limelight during early summer.
Exbury is renowned for spring colour, set apart from other gardens by our world-famous collection of rhododendrons and azaleas. These stunning shrubs are at their height in May, lining the paths with elegant flowers. Spring also sees a spectacular display of camellias and magnolias, as well as hundreds of thousands of spring bulbs in Daffodil Meadow and the River of Gold.
Day tickets to the gardens are £16:00; discounted tickets are £10:00 for a group of 15 or more.
