Overview

Starting from the roadside parking in Hawnby, over the Dalicar Bridge up to Dale Town, then a flat easy walk through Cliff Wood, back over the River Rye at Shaken Bridge to Fair Hill Farm. A long upwards section from the footbridge over the River Seph along the flank of Easterside Hill and Pepper Hill, before dropping down to cross Ladhill Beck to Sportsman's Hall. returning along the eastern side of Hawnby Hill.  6 or 7 stiles.

Short section of road in Hawnby at beginning and end, mixed paths, mostly good, but narrow path on the moorland along Easterside Hill across to Ladhill Beck.  Around 1750 ft of ascent, with about a quarter of this in one continuous gradual climb from the Seph. May be muddy/slippery in places if the weather hasn't been kind, but generally good underfoot. A stick may be useful in places.
