Good tracks all round bar two 0.5 mile sections. Short rough grass on both, one flat, the other down hill. Climbing in 3 stages. 1155ft at the start is similar to the West side of Pendle Hill from Nick of Pendle but contours on my walk slightly wider. This is broken by one of the two 0.5 mile sections on flat rough grass to get a splendid elevated view up High Cup Nick. The route is then flat for about 2.25 miles before a 231ft rise, followed by 2 miles of flat and gradual descent of 400ft before a 231ft ascent for Murton Pike affording a small top with 360 degree panoramic view. All down hill from there including the second 0.5 mile grass section.
