This is an 8 mile circular walk visiting the nine remaining 'Lovelace Bridges' which were built in the 19th century by William King, the first Earl of Lovelace, to facilitate the horse drawn removal of timber from his forests. Lovelace was responsible for all the decorative brick and stonework noticeable when passing through East Horsley, and these bridges reflect his style. This is not a flat walk, there are a few gentle ups and downs with a short steep section near the end!
Please note there are NO pubs or refreshments available on this walk, so please bring with you what you require! Will stop for a DIY coffee break and there will be a picnic stop in the woods, towards the end of the walk.
This time last year the Bluebells were excellent!!
Please contact leader by the evening before to sign on to walk.
