An interesting 9 mile circular walk along the Pennine Way across the flank of Harter Fell, from Middleton-in-Teesdale to Grassholme, where after a prolonged dry spell, the ruins of an old double-arched stone bridge can be seen amidst the mudflats. We then follow the shoreline path along Grassholme reservoir to the visitor centre which we can pop into if people wish. We'll then return back to M-i-T on the track bed of the Tees Valley Railway. Fairly good hill paths initially, then easy low-level paths.
Please bring picnic lunch and water to drink, waterproofs and sturdy footwear.
Car share from Morton Park in Darlington, near to McDonalds at 10am (N.B. walk leader will not be at the car share, but will check that another attendee can be!).
