This is a walk on Forest tacks and some rugged cross country. It is 8.5 miles with a total ascent of approx 2000 feet (609 metres). If the weather is kind we will have some great views of parts of the Galloway Forest we don't frequent that often.
We start on a short grassy path and then pick up the forest track which passes the Black Loch. we continue on past Poultrybuie Hill and then turn off left cross country. ( this can be a bit boggy if there has been a lot of rain). Then we start the climb to Kirkloch and Millfore (the highest point on the walk) Then we start the descent to Red Gairy and Drigmorn. Navigating past some cairns we drop down to the Rig of Auchinleck. Crossing a small burn we make our way along a forest track to pick up the track back to the cars.
Due to the nature of parts of the walk walking poles and gaiters are advised.
Please let the leader ( Denis Duke) know if you intend to travel direct to the start of the walk.
