Welcome to Capital Walkers, the friendly London Ramblers group for people aged 40+. We walk every weekend and usually at least once during the week.
We will start at Theydon Bois and do a complete circuit of Epping, visiting many of the fragments of woodland that have become separated from the main bulk of Epping Forest.
Some fragments, such as the Lower Forest (which is to the north of Epping) are still officially part of the Forest and managed by The Corporation of London, whereas others are now local parks, or, as is the case with Gernon Bushes, are managed by Essex Wildlife Trust.
Though the conditions under foot have improved significantly over the last few weeks, this is Epping Forest so there is bound to be some mud!
There are toilets at Theydon Bois station. Please take advantage of these as other opportunities are few and far between.
We will be stopping for lunch at the North end of Epping High Street, near the war memorial, please bring a packed lunch.
Drop out point - It would be possible to leave the group at lunchtime and return via Epping station, which is on the Central line. However it is a walk of about 20 minutes from the war memorial to the station.

The finishing time is an estimate only and will be dependent on a number of factors, such as, weather, the speed at which the group walks and the number of breaks taken.
Meet by the ticket barriers at Theydon Bois station. Theydon Bois underground station is on the Central Line in zone 6. Be careful to get the train that is going to Epping rather than the branch that goes to Hainault.
