Overview

Visit St Marys Church Edwinstowe site where Robin Hood married Maid Marian, then to Robins hiding place , the Major Oak, Cross Birklands Forest and heathland to Centre Oak, at the middle of the old forest.Through the Plantation to Blackpool Pool, the former site of the 6th Duke of Portlands Russian Cottage. Nearby stood the Shambles Oak, Robin Hoods Larder, where the outlaws hung venison after stealing it from the King. The tree was blown down in a gate in the 1960s. See St Edwins former Chapel in part of what used to be the Royal Deer Park and what is now known as King Johns Palace, some 3 miles away at Old Clipstone. Return to Sherwood Visitor Centre
