Overview

This walk is led by S. Fishwick

A 9.5 mile moderate circular walk

Meet close to St Hilda’s C of E primary school Ampleforth on the bend where Station Road becomes Mill Lane.

The route heads through the village and takes a wooded path uphill, there are a couple of stepping stones to cross a small stream. We continue North uphill over grass fields to High Street, then East and South West through woodland, mostly on good tracks. Dropping downhill we pass through the grounds of Ampleforth College and across soggy grass fields to the outskirts of Gilling East. Now we walk West on tarmac until we pick up (currently muddy) field side paths North for our return to Ampleforth.
