Overview

A 9.5 mile moderate circular walk

Sunday 12 May, 10am start from Westerdale Village Hall (NZ665 059); 9.5 miles with 1550' ascent.

 

The route heads south east passing through Broad Gate Farm to Dale Head where there is a short climb to the Castleton road. After crossing the main road we descend along a quiet lane to Stormy Hall where the Esk Valley Walk takes us north for a short while before we head across fields and along quiet lanes to Castleton (lunch).  We rejoin the Esk Valley Walk at Dibbles Bridge and head south and west over Westerdale Moor and then south along the John Breckon Road.  On leaving the Esk Valley Walk we head north along another quiet lane back to the cars at the village hall.
