This a linear walk that departs from outside the Dundonald Castle Visitor Centre (Winehouse Yett, Dundonald) at 10:40 on 11/05/2024. A grade C walk of 7.5 miles through woodland full of bluebells, past a reservoir (tea break) before heading for the coast at Troon. Lunch will be in a park with toilets. We cross Royal Troon Golf Course and can have a nosy at preparations for the Open.
Good paths and pavements. No need for poles or boots, walking shoes will do. A couple of short, steep ascents but nothing demanding. Apart from the castle there should be plenty of flowers and birds to see.
As this is a linear walk, cars could be left at either end. I will get the 10:00, No. 10 bus, from Troon. The bus stop is at 75-79 Portland Street, by "The Original Factory Shop". After the most convoluted route in the Universe it arrives at Dundonald at 10:30.
Troon has plenty of cafes and we will finish near public toilets. There is a handy car park entered by Academy Street. If using it, park at the far end and walk out the back onto Portland Street
