The Pennine weather is notoriously unpredictable even in summer, so we strongly recommend dressing appropriately for the forecast conditions. This can be a muddy moorland landscape, so good footwear is a must. Terrain can be uneven and stiles may be encountered.
Bring a packed lunch to dine al fresco in good company. Be aware that the majority of the walk will be in open moorland, a sensitive landscape for ground-nesting rare birds, so dogs on a lead please.
Meet at Gorpley Clough Nature Reserve car park on the A681 Bacup Road, near Todmorden. This is a popular spot so arrive early for the carpark, or park in the layby off-road. Public transport runs along the main Rochdale Road.
