We are the Alton Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
10 mile circular route. Start at The Trooper Inn, along quiet country roads, woodland and open farmland walking at times on Hangers Way and The Shipwright Way. Finishing back at The Trooper Inn with an option of staying for a late lunch (food served until 1500 hours). Short stop for light refreshment at about one hour into the walk. 20 minute stop for lunch at about the half way point and a short refreshment break in the afternoon. Please bring water and the snacks and hot drinks you require. A very undulating course with views across the countryside.
Start at The Trooper Inn, Petersfield Road, Froxfield, GU32 1BD. Heading E. downhill through Oakshott Hanger. S. onto Down Hanger the E. down Old Litten Lane to Wheatham Hill. SW. to East side of the Shoulder of Mutton Hill. S. on Hangers Way, accross the A3 on to The Shipwrights Way. NW. to Bell Hill then cross the A3 again and head NW to Ridge Farm. Head NE back to the start.
This route is suitable for experienced middle distance walkers who like the challenge of a hilly walk.
