This 10-mile walk starts below the Thomas Hardy Monument, briefly passes through woodland and detours to Hell Stone dolmen, where we shall have our first 10-minute stop for a drink at about 10.30am. It back tracks to pick up the route South and then East along an exposed ridge and drops down steeply over challengingly rough ground. The path then joins the Jubilee Trail along Corton Hill, at the end of which is a chapel where we shall briefly stop for a drink at about 12.30pm, before climbing Friar Waddon Hill and walking along the ridge on to Wishing Well in Upwey. Lunch will be here at about 1.30pm at St. Laurence’s Church. An ill-maintained path along the River Wey circuitously leads out of Upwey and climbs a valley to meet the South Dorset Ridgeway, at which point we head West along the exposed Ridge Hill and Bronkham Hill, passing many tumuli on our way back to Smitten Corner below Hardy’s Monument,
