Overview

This is a short walk across Harting Downs starting from the National Trust car park on the South Downs Way and walking eastwards. There are lovely views, especially to the north, and classic South Downs scenery. There are two climbs and 213 metres of ascent. There is an alternative, less steep, ascent to the top of Beacon Hill which will be possible for anyone who would prefer to avoid the sharp climb.

This National Trust car park (fee payable for non-members) is on Harting Downs between South Harting and North Marden. The signpost to the car park is clearly visible when travelling south but can be obscured if you are travelling north. The postcode should only be used for general navigation because there are no houses nearby. The car park is relatively small and may be crowded.
