A chance to bag five summits in one challenging walk, as we start by ascending Win Hill. After returning to the valley and passing through Castleton, we then take in the eye-catching sight of the Broken Road across Mam Tor, the legacy of a massive landslip. We then traverse the whole of the Great Ridge, taking in the summits of Lose Hill, Back Tor, Hollins Cross and Mam Tor and the amazing views.
The accumulated ascent figure means you will need to have a high fitness level to complete this walk.
Possible bailout option at Hope Village (after only one summit), from where you can walk down the main road to Hope Station.
Mam Tor is among the 31 'Ethels' summits in the Peak District that are more than 500 metres above sea level. They are named after Ethel Haythornthwaite, who campaigned vigorously for the Peak District to become the UK's first National Park in 1951. MWW aims to ascend all 31 of these Ethels.
