After walking past the village cricket square, through woodland on The Chart, and (briefly) Limpsfield Chart Golf Course, we will skirt Tenchleys Park and, with a fine view ahead of us, descend via Tenchleys Manor (16th century) to Stockenden Farm. After more farms – Couldens, Guildables, Hurst – we join one of the south east's long distance paths, the Vanguard Way, for just over one of its 66 miles from Newhaven to Croydon. It’s a good pull up to get us back to the start, where you can refresh yourself in the excellent Carpenters Arms.
You can bring a well-behave behaved dog, but it must be on a lead among livestock, or any time the leader asks you to put it on a lead.
Bring a snack and plenty of water.
