Welcome to the Shrewsbury Ramblers. Based in the County town, our group walks cover Shrewsbury, the Shropshire Hills and the Welsh Borders.
Newcomers are always welcome. If you would like to join a walk, we ask that you contact the walk leader first to book your place. Any amendments to walks are advertised on a local WhatsApp Group, Facebook and via email.
Our walks in and around Shrewsbury
Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays are our regular walking days. Tuesday and Sunday walks are between 7.5 and 10 miles are generally graded between moderate and strenuous and we very much advise bringing a packed lunch to keep your energy levels up!
Thursday walks are graded between leisurely and moderate and range between 5 and 7 miles. We also have occasional Saturday walks using buses. The terrain and conditions are changeable, so suitable footwear is absolutely essential.
Walks are graded using Ramblers National guidelines..
We generally meet at 9.15am for a 9:30am departure, at Abbey Foregate car park on Sundays, at the back of the Park and Ride in Meole Brace on Tuesday's and Thursday's. In the summer there are Wednesday evening walks starting at 7:00 p.m. from various local pubs. Changes to departure time are pre-advised
Please use your car if possible to help with lifts for those who do not drive. Passengers are asked to make a contribution to the driver based on mileage.
Unfortunately, dogs (except registered assistance dogs) are not allowed on walks.
We have an 'Away Week' holiday in late spring and October which have with daily walks in good walking territory.
Our walk programme [link] is published three times a year. And you can keep up to date with all Shrewsbury Ramblers news via our newsletter [link].
