Moderate to brisk paced 22.2km/14.2 mile walk with some hills and a final stiff climb up to the Downs.
Starts in gentle countryside, with the South Downs a thin line on the horizon then via hills and hidden valleys to finish on the crest of the South Downs with a panoramic view.
About 5. 5 hours walking.
Route: Rozier Wood, Marringdean Wood, Jackman's Farm, Gay Street Farm, Gay Street, Lowerhill Farm, Roper's Farm, Nutbourne, Mill Farm, Nutbourne Common, Heath Mill, Sand Pit, West Sussex Literary Trail, Hurston Place, Parham Airfield, Clay Lane, Paygate Cottage, ascent of the South Downs, west along SDW to Amberley Station.
Lunch Stop: Nutbourne... Rising Sun or Barley Corn pubs.
Meet: Billingshurst Station at 10.45.
Travel: Victoria 09.35/Clapham Junction 09.42/East Croydon 09.53 - Southern train to Littlehampton - arr Billingshurst 10.45.
Ticket/Fare: Buy return to Amberley.
Finish: Amberley Station... hourly trains at xx17. The Bridge Inn is close by!
