This is a good 'pipe-opener' as we say in Yorkshire as we will rise steeply out of central Todmorden, following woodland footpaths and moorland bridleways to the fabulously weathered Bridestones, where outstanding views can be enjoyed.
Be aware that there will be some stiles and due to the unpredictability of weather in the south Pennines there is the possibility of wet walking even in the height of summer. Please come prepared for the forecast conditions, most particularly with footwear. The terrain can be rough so walking poles might aid balance.
Bring a packed lunch as refreshments are only available in the town centre, not en-route.
This is a sensitive moorland landscape for ground-nesting birds - well-behaved dogs on a lead please.
