Come and join us for the 2nd of our new gently paced midweek short walks.
A different way of appreciating this Shropshire Hills gateway town, affording fine, interesting views of all its surrounding hills. Starting from the Discovery Centre, the route closely follows the River Onny north, crosses the A49 to utilise the amazing new railway bridge and largely follows the course of Roman Watling Street west of Craven Arms. It returns to the Discovery Centre via a short climb to Sallow Coppice and then pasture field paths.
Toilets and refreshments are available at the Discovery Centre at the start and end of the walk.
After such a long period of wet weather, the ground is slippery and muddy in places but there is only one very short climb of note. Waterproof boots with good grip and gaiters are strongly advised. Some stiles and tarmac walking.
