Starting from the Water works in Dancersend Nature Reserve, we ascend fairly steeply to the Ridgeway in Pavis Wood. In this ancient wood we expect to see bluebells and other spring flowers, also dotted around are marl and saw pits. There are views between the trees to Pitstone and Ivinghoe Beacon. We then descend to open fields with lovely views. We return to Dancersend by climbing to Bittam's wood with more bluebells, back down to the Water works.
There are a couple of fairly steep climbs and a few stiles. The car park is reached via single track lanes.
The post code will not take you to this car park, you need to take Bottom Road from St Leonards, after about a mile you pass a tall radio arial and soon after the road bends sharp right, you will find the pumping station car park on your right in about 200 meters.
