Overview

This 8 and a half mile circular walk takes us across the Colne Valley Golf Club, along a disused section of railway line and across the fields to Chalkney Wood where there is usually an oustanding display of bluebells.  Continuing on to Swan Street we end up in Chappell where we stop to admire the Viaduct and enjoy a picnic by the river (please bring your own).  [Note: Unfortunately, The Swan pub now requires a large deposit for group bookings, hence the picnic lunch.]  After the lunch stop we make our way back to Earls Colne along the River Colne, skirting Chalkney Wood once again before walking across the fields and paths into the village.

This an undulating walk with plenty to see.
