Setting out from Edmundbyers we walk on moorland paths all the way to Sikehead Dams where we will have lunch. The return journey covers more varied terrain mostly on farm paths and some roadway. Our return also passes Belmount Farm, place of the dastardly “Blanchland Murder” - more details provided on the day. There are few walls or styles to negotiate and generally the underfoot condtions should be fairly stable.
Lunch will be taken at Sikehead Dams. Rehydration stops will be take if conditions dictate. The Derwent Arms offers a full range of traditional pub refreshements.
On right hand side of the B6306 just opposite the The Derwent Arms, Edmundbyers. Directions - Follow A69 west and then the A68 south. Then after appox 8 miles at Carterway Heads turn right on to the B6287 signposted Edmundbyers. On arrival in Edmundbyers take the B6306 on the right signposted Blanchland. After 100 yards or so park on the right just past The Derwent Arms on the other side of the road.
