Overview

The walk follows the delightful course of the Haltwhistle Burn.  Much of the town's history and heritage has been forged along its banks as its fast flowing route has enabled industries to benefit from its power.  It is a steady gradual incline to the Military Road where life and limb are risked crossing this ancient highway. Take care!  Assuming we retain our full complement of walkers we then plot a course over grassland to the famous Cawfields Quarry and Crag.  A traverse of moorland either directly under the Wall or diagonally across the fields we arrive back at the Military Road. We pass the Mile Inn pub before returning via Haltwhistle town to the start.
