Bus-based walk

Leader: Mary, meeting at Walk Start

Transport to Walk Start: 10:15 rail replacement bus from Manchester Piccadilly (final destination Chinley). Alternatively, 10:35 train from Manchester Piccadilly (final destination London Euston), changing at Stockport by making the short walk to the A6 road to catch the 383 bus to Marple at 11:02.

Meet Point:  Meet at Manchester Piccadilly train station, on the station approach road. Alternatively, meet on the bus or at the walk start at Marple station.  

Suggested Ticket: Off Peak Day Return to Marple £7.00 (if taking the rail replacement bus). Off Peak Day Return to Stockport £5.60, plus £2.00 per journey for any journeys on public buses (if using the train to Stockport and then the regular bus service).

Walk Start: Marple Station at 11:30

Waypoints: Marple Bridge, Heys Farm, Cote Green, Cowhey Farm, Glossop Road, Erncroft Wood, Ertherow Country Park, Compstall Bridge, Brabyns Park, Midshires Way, Marple Locks.

Return Services: Rail replacement buses at x:15 until 19:15, then 20:45. Alternatively, 383/384 bus at x:17, x:28 & x:47 until approximately 23:00, connecting at Stockport with very frequent trains to Manchester.

Extra: No toilets at walk start. Toilets en route at Etherow Country Park, where we will have lunch. After the walk, those wishing to stay on for refreshments can join us at a pub in Marple Bridge.
