A mainly flat walk along the River Wye and part of the disused Hereford to Ross railway to, see the sand martins nesting in the far river bank. Bring binoculars, if you have them. We then leave the river and walk up the hill to Townsend Farm, run by RegenBen. From the farm we walk through the village of Brampton Abbots and take a footpath across fields back to the old railway and back to the river. With good views from the footpath, on a clear day.

The walk is slightly longer than our usual Tuesday walks as it is 5.6 miles. It could be joined at the bridge beside the gates to the Ross Rowing Club,(///presented.flame.dish) The walk is just over 4 miles from there. There is a car park in Homs Road, (///belief.chew.incursion), which is free so often full. On street parking in Homs Road is possible, then walk through the car park and over the bridge, turn right along the path to reach the rowing club gate. There is also a car park in Edde Cross Street at, (///reveal.thudding.twirls), parking charge - £2.50 for more than 2 hours. Turn left out of the car park, walk down the hill and take the first left into Metcalfe Close, follow the brook round to the rowing club entrance.
