Overview

An interesting section of the Chalkland Way offering a variety of landscapes, from the pretty villages of Thixendale and Fimber, the rolling vistas of the Yorkshire Wolds and open farmland approaching Wetwang.

From Thixendale Church we walk through the village and out along Water Dale and up Court Dale to North Plantation, with fine views over the surrounding landscape. The route then goes along a minor road to Fimber passing a number of dales including the pretty Fairy Dale. From Fimber the Chalkland Way crosses open farmland to Wetwang.

2024 marks the 30th Anniversary of the Chalkland Way, a long distance walk in the Yorkshire Wolds devised by a Ramblers Member, Ray Wallis. To commemorate this occasion, East Yorkshire and Derwent Area Ramblers have decided to walk the whole trail on one day in four distinct stages.

All four stages are linear walks and in this stage we meet at Wetwang church, and a coach will take us to the start point of the walk at Thixendale.

ADVANCE BOOKING IS ESSENTIAL and numbers are limited. Bookings are being taken by East Riding of Yorkshire Council. You will need to state on which stage you would like to walk and provide your phone number and email address. Your place will be confirmed by email.
