A varied section of the Chalkland Way in the Yorkshire Wolds. ADVANCE BOOKING ESSENTIAL through East Riding of Yorkshire Council (see details of how to book below)
After parking in Thixendale, our coach will take us to Bishop Wilton. There is a gentle start to this walk, passing through farmland with views to the east of Garrowby Hill. We then gradually walk into more undulating country with steep sided valleys and climb out of Hanging Grimston Wold and then go via Thixendale Grange back to our start point at Thixendale.
2024 marks the 30th Anniversary of the Chalkland Way, a long distance walk in the Yorkshire Wolds devised by a Ramblers member, Ray Wallis. To commemorate this occasion, East Yorkshire and Derwent Area Ramblers have decided to walk the whole trail on one day in four distinct stages.
All four stages are linear walks and in this stage, we meet at Thixendale( near the church) , and a coach will take us to the start point of the walk at BIshop Wilton.
ADVANCE BOOKING IS ESSENTIAL and numbers are limited. Bookings are being taken by East Riding of Yorkshire Council. You will need to state on which stage you would like to walk and provide your phone number and email address. Your place will be confirmed by email.

At the end of the walk, all those participating are invited to a celebratory event at Bishop Wilton Village Hall for tea and cakes. And we are expecting Ray Wallis to join us.
