General Council

The Ramblers is a company limited by guarantee, and General Council is the body of people who are defined as company members for Companies Act and other legal purposes.  Members of General Council are entitled to attend the annual general meeting, but remain company members at other times. 

Our annual general meeting is commonly referred to as General Council.
 

General Council AGM 2026

The 2026 General Council Annual General Meeting (AGM) will take place on Saturday 25 April at the Birmingham NEC. The meeting will start at 10.30 am and finish by 5 pm. Council members are invited to register online by Monday 23 March at https://GCAGM2026.eventbrite.co.uk 

Dates and deadlines

  • Deadline for receipt of nominations and Council member motions – 14 March
  • Motions published on website – 18 March
  • AGM notice and papers published – 27 March
  • Deadline for receipt of motion amendments and appeals – 21 April
  • Amendments and appeals published on website – 23 April
