So you want to start a Ramblers Wellbeing Walk?
Our Wellbeing Walks leaders help boost the nation’s wellbeing one step at a time, and we’d love you to join us. You’ll make it possible for even more people to enjoy the pleasures of walking and reap the benefits of being more active. And whether you want to start a new health walk as part of an existing group or set up a new Ramblers Wellbeing Walks group in your area, we make it easy for you to get going.
Creating a Ramblers Wellbeing Walk that works for everyone
Setting up a Ramblers Wellbeing Walk means you get to choose when, where and how far you go. All we ask is that you stick to a few guidelines designed to make sure walks are welcoming for everyone. That means they should be:
Regular: Ideally at least one planned short walk a week, starting at the same time and place every week.
Short: No longer than 90 minutes.
Easy: Walks should be over easy terrain and at a steady pace to suit everyone, along routes accessible to all.
Led by trained volunteers: All walk leaders must complete our walk leader training.

Contact your local group co-ordinator to share your ideas for a new walk (eg. the route, theme or audience) and find out if this will fit with their programme. Also what training and support you’ll need to get started.

If there isn’t already a Ramblers Wellbeing Walks group in your local area, we can support you with the setup process. This includes ensuring that your walk leaders are trained to a high standard and can competently and confidently lead short, free, health walks.
