Starting from the Kilmarnock Arms Hotel in Cruden Bay, we shall continue towards the Harbour and south along the path that straddles Cruden sands.
Points of interest on the route towards Whinnyfold include St. Olaf’s Well which is on the perimeter of the golf course beside the 17th Tee - we will need to be mindul of golfers and may need to skip this hostoric point of interest.
Continuing along the sand, we will come to the Sand Craigs where Bram Stoker spent many hours sitting beside the cairn of stones contemplating - the area is accessible at low tide.
We will also take in The Crooked Lum where apparently Bram Stoker stayed. Our route back travels slightly inland with the golf course on one side and rolling hills across the Aberdeenshire landscape.
As customary practice, we will be stopping for a coffee and snack at the end of the hike for those who wish to join.
