Ambleside is at the northern end of Windermere and is perfectly located in the heart of the National Park: a walkers’ paradise. There are many fells to climb. On previous trips we have: completed the iconic Fairfield Horshoe, Loughrigg fell and its caves, traversed the old coffin route, ascended Silver How, wandered round Elterwater. Each has been spectacular in its own way and each worthy of a visit: you are spoilt for choice.
