On the ridge between Rosedale and Farndale stands the Lion Inn, a fabulous destination for walks in this area of the North Yorks Moors. The Inn stands on a plot of land that was allegedly granted to the splendidly named Order of Crouched Friars who may have created the Inn. In previous visits to the area we have walked across Lealholm Moor to Danby Beacon, passed Ralph’s Cross, left offerings for Fat Betty and crossed Castleton Rigg. The walking is outstanding with open expansive views over the moors, secluded little valleys, and a wonderful historic pub to refresh at.
