The Green Way is a 5 mile linear walk from Cookham to Maidenhead. We shall be walking a circular route along the northern part of the walk and following both the Green Way East and Green Way West paths, cutting across Widbrook Common and visiting some places of historical interest along the way. The walk is completely flat but it could be muddy in places, especially on the common. Bring a drink and a snack.

Park at the far end of the car park at The Swan PH, Kiln Road grid ref: SU623 552: We will walk from Sherborne St John to Morgaston Woods then through the grounds of the Vyne, which will be open for visitors after the walk. There are spectacular views to enjoy along the way, visiting the village of Steventon where Jane Austen’s father and brothers were Rector. Please bring food and drink for the day. Park in the layby in Brightwalton Holt on the B4494 (nearest postcode RG20 7DA). Coming north, shortly after a 50 mph sign the layby is on the left at the Brightwalton Holt sign. Coming south, 200 m after the Brightwalton Holt sign the layby is on the right. We will walk on the southern slopes of the Berkshire Downs in the North Wessex AONB passing through 4 picturesque villages: Peasemore, Leckhampstead, Chaddleworth and Brightwalton. Around 450 ft of ascent and 5 stiles. Bring a packed lunch.

Park at East Woodhay Village Hall, Heath End, GR SU413621 (w3w zooms.tender.magically). This has been kindly agreed as it is half-term, for a small donation. The walk will take us eastwards towards Woolton Hill then southwards towards Hollington House and Crowshott Park Farm. We then turn westwards on the BP Way to Brick Kiln Farm and pass Stargrove to reach East Woodhay Church, where we turn northwards to North End Farm and then return to Heath End.
