Its Jubilee, so let's use the Friday to see the sea. A walk full of medieval buildings and pretty landscape, we head off to historic Rye. Once an important port town, we will first walk through its impressive Medieval gatehouse to its small castle for view of the area and then down its cobbled streets full of historic buildings. After leaving the town, we head through fields to the historic, but largely faded town Winchelsea, another former port town, which we check out two gatehouses and the ruins of 13th century Friary and church and we'll pass through its imposing gatehouses. From there, its to the coast we go. Occasional visiting the beach, we will then ascend some cliffs along coast, passing a waterfall before reach Hasting for fish & chips and the train home.
