Hope to see you on this walk on Saturday.

This is a 5.45 mile circular walk.
The walk will begin opposite Weardale Holiday home caravan site.
There are a few parking spaces directly opposite Weardale Holiday home caravan site. There is also a small car park down a narrow lane next to the Hare and Hounds pub and along over bridge for 50 yards in the direction of Brotherlee. Considerate parking is also permitted within Westgate village.

There are no public toilets in Westgate. There are public toilets at Daddryshield which is about 1 mile west of Westgate and at St Johns Chapel which is 2 miles west of Westgate.
The first part of the walk is a steady uphill medium gradient as we pass a number of beautiful waterfalls until we reach the remains of Slitt Mine. Those with walking sticks may find these helpful for the uphill section of this walk.
We make our way further uphill until we meet a quite rocky road/pathway which takes us further into the hillside. The views are brilliant at the top, so well worth the effort. Good walking boots/walking shoes recommended as it can be a bit tough underfoot
