Sunday, 14 August 2022 (Group: Ryedale)
Start time 10:00
Moderate 9.5 miles / 15.3 km (Estimated finish time: 15:15)
Walk starts from Cemetery and proceeds down into the adjacent valley which on my map is listed as Wedland Slack and from there along Levisham Brow, continuing north to Low Horcum (at this point we can cut the walk down to 7.5 miles by returning via Levisham) and then up to the A169, following the path adjacent to the road until we get to the crossing point for the Car Park where we cross to Old Wife's Way and then Newgate Brow.
The path splits and we take the right hander which is marked as an earthwork and from there right following Bridestone Griff into the Nature Reserve. On the previous two occasions we've done this walk there were cases of Tick Attack! so I'm staying as far out of Staindale as possible (long grass seems to be associated with the problem). Coming out of the Bridestones turn towards Lockton bearing right at Low Staindale and on to Low Pasture Farm where we continue left up to Thwaite Wood and cross the A169 again back to the Cemetery.
Assistance dogs only
