8 mile linear from Turkey Street Station to Enfield Lock Station with optional 3 mile extension to Chingford Station. The main walk is over level terrain via the Turkey Brook (now flowing through Albany Park), River Lea wetlands, Gunpowder Park where the Lee Enfield rifle was produced and Enfield Island with its Royal Ordnance buildings. Lunch stop at 'The Plough' pub, Sewardstone Road - or bring a picnic. The optional extension to Chingford Station (London Overground, Zone 5), follows the London Loop over undulating terrain. Linear From North Fambridge Station to Burnham-on-Crouch Station, mainly along the tranquil sea wall of the tidal river Crouch, past marshes and marinas, ending at the quaint seaside town of Burnham-on-Crouch. Lunch stop near 'The Three Horseshoes' pub at Althorne (possible drop-out point) but please bring own picnic. Map: E176, L168.

This includes the Lea Navigation and finishes with a section of Epping Forest and the Queen Elizabeth Hunting Lodge. Undulating terrain and can be muddy. Circular from Amersham Station over fairly level terrain via South Bucks Way, Little Missenden and Little Kingshill to Great Missenden for lunch stop at 'The Cross Keys' pub (or bring own food). Great Missenden is also a drop-out point. The return is via Hyde Farm, Hyde Heath and Weedonhill Wood. Easy going. Map: E172/181. L165.

Linear from Berwick Station to Polegate Station over undulating countryside passing idyllic villages. Looking at Berwick Church paintings, walking across to Alfriston, along Cuckmere River to Litlington, south to Westdean and through beautiful Friston Forest to Jevington. Lunch stop at a pub but bring food with you. Map: EOL25, L199.

Linear from Rye Station to Hastings Station partly following the Saxon Shore Way. The first part of the walk via Rye Marsh and Winchelsea to Pett Level is fairly flat. The second part is a fine cliff-top coastal walk and not too strenuous because it detours inland to avoid the landslips at Ecclesbourne Glen and the steepest ups and downs. No convenient tea rooms or pubs en route - bring a picnic. Refreshments/early evening meal at end of walk at 'The John Logie Baird' pub (Wetherspoon) or other pub or cafe. The Torchlight Procession with many invited Societies begins at 7:15 pm at the seafront end of Robertson Street, with the Bonfire and burning of the Effigy at 9:00 pm and fireworks at 9:15 pm. From Bromley South Station we'll catch the (frequent) 320 bus for the 23 minute journey to the Biggin Hill Black Horse stop where the walk begins.
Circular. The walk starts to have steep hills after 11:30. Lunch stop in Tatsfield ('Ye old Ship' pub, 'The Bakery' or Sheree's tea rooms or picnic on large village green). Possibility to buy very lovely eggs threequarter of an hour from end of walk. £1.50 per half dozen. (Please can you bring some empty boxes for the egg supplier). Finish about 3:30 to 4:00 pm. Linear from Effingham Junction Station to Box Hill & Westhumble Station. A beautiful and varied walk with some fine views and attractive woods. Passing through the idyllic estate of Polesden Lacey and across Ranmore Common. Gently undulating in the morning but a couple of steeper hills in the afternoon. Lunch stop at the Granary Cafe, Polesden Lacey - bring a picnic if preferred. Map:E146, L187.
