We suggest you park at the Redbridge Park and Ride (SP518 038, OX1 4XG on the Old Abingdon Road just off the A34) then take the bus (or walk) to Folly Bridge for the start of the walk at 10.30. The Park and Ride bus does not stop at Folly bridge so if you take that bus, get off at the Police Station and walk back to the bridge. . We follow the Thames path as it skirts the city centre crossing the river near its junction with the Oxford Canal. We pass the Isis lock, the navigational linking point with the Thames. We follow the Oxford Canal variant of the Shakespeare Way with views over the great Port Meadow to our left. At Wolvercote Lock the two variants of the route come together. We leave the Oxford Canal at Duke’s Cut and walk on to Yarnton. Yarnton Church, with its unspoilt interior and early stained glass windows is worth a visit. We continue along a green road, Frogwelldown Lane, towards Begbroke, .At the end of the walk at Woodstock we get either the S3 Stagecoach bus or the Oxford Bus Company bus back to Oxford. We can then get the Park and Ride bus (or walk) back to our cars at the Redbridge Park and Ride. Bring picnic lunch and bus pass if you have one. Contact leader if you intend to join this walk.
