Friday, 12 August 2022 (Group: Sutton/Wandle Valley)
Meeting time 10:15,
Start time 12:10
7.5 miles / 12.1 km
The walk is 7.5 miles long with 670 feet of ascent and at least one stile.
Meet onboard the 10:25 Rochester train at London Victoria. An early lunch at Perry Court Farm Tea Room after 0.75 Miles.
From Wye station we follow the North Downs Way (NDW) to Perry Court Farm where we have lunch (Soup, Sandwiches, Toasties, Ploughman's, Sausage Roll, Scotch Egg, Quiche, Non alcoholic hot & cold drinks, Cake). We cross the A28 and head along paths roughly north west to re-join the NDW just before Boughton Aluph. We will look at exterior of church at Boughton Aluph (church locked when I visited). We then follow the NDW until just before it descends when we diverge to go downhill on the edge of Godmersham Park with view of house in distance. Towards the bottom of the hill we turn left along a track and re-join the NDW along Mountain Street which we follow into Chilham. We may stop at The Woolpack Inn for a drink (depending on time) before going to the station.
Possible travel plan - Sutton Station 09:42 train to London Victoria arriving 10:15 (or 09:32 if 09:42 not running) then Ramsgate train at 10:25 arriving Wye at 12:11.
The return trains are xx:11 from Chilham. Using 17:11 as an example the fastest route involves a change at Ashford International on to the 17:32 London Bridge train, then catch the 18:55 service to Sutton arriving 19:29. For the slower option stay on the train at Chilham all the way to Victoria then change on to 19:25 service to Sutton arriving 19:53.
