Walking in and around the Mendips

Welcome to the Mendip Ramblers. We are part of Somerset Area and generally walk in the areas around Frome, Shepton Mallet, Wells, Street and Glastonbury. This includes the Mendip Hills and Somerset Levels.

We have group walks on a Thursday and Sunday. Our Thursday Walks are split into two groups. The main group walk about 7 miles whilst our spin off group, West Mendip Ramblers, generally walk further and a little quicker. Sunday walks are all day walks of about 10 miles plus.

Our walking community

Mendip is a very active group. We organise a group holiday every year but there are numerous small group holidays that individual members organise. We have socials as well as our varied walking programme.

Our Walking party is very active. A group of often up to 15 people meet on a Tuesday to erect gates, bridges etc. We have installed thousands of pieces of furniture on rights of ways over the last 20 years.

New and non-members are very welcome to join us – please get in touch if you have any questions. We hope to walk with you soon.

Campaign with us - protect the places we walk

Walking is a simple pleasure that should be open to everyone, so we campaign to remove barriers to walking and we protect the places we love to wander.
