Note : 09:45 Start
A circular walk, starting from the village of Stourpaine, initially taking in the hill forts of Hod Hill and Hambledon, before taking a break at Shillingston heritage railway station for lunch. After lunch we head up Shillingston Hill, then East towards Durweston, and back across the River Stour at Durwston Mill to the start.
There are great views over the surrounding villages and countryside from the top of Hod Hill and Hambledon.
This walk involves three reasonably long, steepish hills (at least by Dorset standards), so a decent level of walking fitness is required. We'll slow the usual 4050 pace down a bit on the hills and make sure everyone gets a chance to have a short rest at the tops.
Bring drinks, snacks and a packed lunch to keep you going. Shillingston Station normally has a small cafe open where you can buy hot drinks and snacks.
Public toilets at Shillingston Station where we stop for lunch.
No dogs except RAD.
All walkers are responsible for their own health and fitness to undertake this walk
