Overview

An undulating walk begins along the High Weald Landscape trail before passing through Udimore and Fairlight, where we will then follow an undulating coastline into Hastings. There will be the annual Bonfire festival with a torchlit procession followed by the bonfire to mark the Battle of Hastings which was fought 957 years ago to the day - the same day, indeed, that the walk leader landed on this earth, albeit not as far back as 1066AD. A choice of pub or tea stop near Pett. Bring a packed lunch.

Travel: Take 9:37 London St Pancras International (9:44 Stratford International), change at Ashford International (arr. 10:14, dep. 10:25), arr. Rye 10:46. Buy return to Rye.
