A brisk walk around the Kent Downs AONB taking in both sides of the Stour Valley. Bring a packed lunch - the lunch stop itself will be at around half distance at the picturesque village of Chilham where there are public toilets and a pub for drinks only. An undulating walk with a total ascent of over 650 metres and also at a brisk pace - aiming for an average pace of 3.3 mph on the flat if conditions are dry. Please note that there are no toilets at Wye station, but there are public toilets that we will pass and stop at just after the beginning of the walk. For those that attended this walk last year, it is not only in the opposite direction, but has also had a few tweaks! Meet just outside the main building of Wye Railway Station - the opposite side to the platform the train will stop at. Pub at the end of the walk.
Transport: The cheaper (but longer) option is the 8:34 from London Charing Cross (Waterloo East: 8:37, London Bridge: 8:43, Sevenoaks: 9:07) arrive at Wye at 10:03.
The quicker (but more expensive) option is the 9:07 high speed from London St Pancras (Stratford International: 9:14), which arrives at Ashford International at 9:45, and then join the train to Wye there (leaving Ashford International at 9:57). Make sure to have a high speed ticket if going for this option.
Buy a return to Wye and make sure to be in the front 4 carriages of the train to Wye, as Wye station has a short platform.
