Overview

From the car park (£3) at 14 locks we head down the lane towards Ynysyfro reservoir then pass Ynysyfro farm and pick up the quiet lanes until we enter Mescoed Mawr woods. Before leaving the woods we will have our coffee break and again pick up a lane leading up hill until we pick up a footpath which follows Bettws Brook all the way to Malpas and the Monmouth and Brecon canal. We then join the canal and walk towards Newport until we meet the M4 underpass. We then turn west and continue along the canal back to the car park.
